The Fillmore Theater and Element Hotel by Westin at Target Field Station was designed to accommodate a lively, loud theater space while still providing a restful night’s sleep and maintaining a historic warehouse feel. Extensive acoustics and HVAC sound reduction were crucial in mitigating noise disruptions to hotel guests, while still providing a memorable concert experience.
A high efficiency and sustainable HVAC system included water source heat pumps with roof mounted cooling tower, high-efficiency boilers and roof mounted VAV air handler with energy recovery wheel to serve the concert hall.
3D Revit modeling and Navisworks clash detection were used to ensure that beams, ductwork , piping and lighting were coordinated and clear of conflicts.
Teamwork helped Steen succeed to create a mechanical and electrical design that was virtually seen and unheard.
